About Emmy
Prior to joining AccuWeather, Emmy served as a special assignments anchor for The Hill in Washington, D.C. She recently worked for WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina as a news reporter. During her time there, she extensively covered severe weather, including Hurricane Matthew in 2016 and Hurricane Florence in 2018. Emmy began her career as a news reporter at KCCI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa, where she covered a handful of tornadoes and snowstorms.
Emmy obtained her degree in Broadcast Journalism from Howard University in Washington, D.C. While in college, Emmy was an editor for the school newspaper and interned in six newsrooms, including CNN, Fox News, and the Associated Press. She is a native of Newark, New Jersey, and a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
