About Kristina

Kristina Shalhoup is a Senior On-Air Meteorologist for the AccuWeather Network.
Kristina’s years of in-depth experience around the country have helped make her the meteorologist that she is today. From nor’easters, to windstorms, to tornadoes, to wildfires, and so much more, she has been able to cover it all. Originally from New England, Kristina grew up surrounded by snow, but comes to the AccuWeather Network by way of Nashville, TN. In Nashville, she was a meteorologist and traffic anchor for WKRN-TV. At WKRN, Kristina extensively covered severe weather in the studio and in the field, including the March 3rd, 2020 tornado outbreak, and the August 21st, 2021 floods.
A collegiate golfer at NYU, Kristina went to school in hopes of working as a sports writer. She landed a job at the Golf Channel in Orlando, FL upon graduation, where she discovered her passion for television, as well as the unexpected desire to work outside of sports. At Kristina’s next stop in Kennewick, WA, she got her first opportunity to present the weather forecast on-camera. From there, she studied Meteorology at Mississippi State while working as a Weather Anchor at WBRE/WYOU Eyewitness News in Scranton, PA. It was her introduction to severe weather in Pennsylvania that inspired Kristina to accept the position in Nashville, where severe weather is commonplace.
Kristina earned her BA, Communication and Media Studies at NYU and completed her Broadcast and Operational Meteorology Certificate at Mississippi State University.
